The Indian Society of Pain Clinicians ISPC is a registered body under the Society Act 1846 with registration number– 65/2015-16.

Though there was already an 'Indian Society for Study of Pain', ISSP was formed under Prof Virendra Rastogi, working in India since 1985. The need was felt to have another niche platform to represent, protect and further the cause of Pain Medicine and formally trained super-specialist Pain Physicians. Finally, in the year 2015, the 'Indian Society of Pain Clinicians ISPC' was borne and registered at Varanasi under the leadership of Prof Virendra Rastogi. Our respected Prof. Virendra Rastogi(MBBS, MD, FOUNDER PRESIDENT ISPC) is a pioneer in pain medicine. He is a highly-skilled, living legend in pain medicine, and an alumnus of the prestigious King George's Medical University, Lucknow. He is very dedicated, enthusiastic, hard-working, and vision towards pain. Prof. Virendra Rastogi is so energetic and enthusiastic which represents that age is no bar towards passion. Prof. Virendra Rastogi has a leading role in the institution of the first formal education course in the form of PDCC at the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He was the past president of ISSP in 2009. He modified the balloon technique for trigeminal neurolysis for the ease of clinicians and the benefit of patients. He has delivered multiple lectures, presentations and has received a lifetime achievement awardISSP in 2009 in the field of pain medicine.

In 2015 the first and inaugural conference of ISPC was successfully held at IMS BHU, Varanasi under the guidance of this superman.

Our dynamic ISPC secretary Dr. Anurag Agarwal with his vast experience in the field of pain medicine, continued the legacy in ISPC, also started a series of webinars for education purposes, and continued organising conferences, CME. He has taken ISPC to new heights at national and international level in field of percutaneous endoscopic dissectomy and pain medicine. He has delivered multiple lectures, seminars at various national and international conferences.

Consecutively annual National conferences were held at different institutions of repute till 2020 when COVID pandemic struck the world and for next three years, annul conferences couldn’t be organised considering the safety of the attendees.

The next ISPCCON in 2023 is planned to be held at KGMU Lucknow. We, as the organising committee are fortunate Pain Medicine pioneer Prof. Virendra Rastogi is coming again to his home institute.
